Marine Pollution Transporting

There are many parameters controlled in pollution Transport as following :

1- Wind Velocity

-The predominant wind Direction from North West to North .

-The average of wind speed 7- 17 knots and   During late autumn, winter and early spring stormy winds usually accompany the most active cold fronts affecting area along Alexandria figure T(1).

2- Oceanography parameters:

Oceanography parameters including  Wave, Current , costal shape, depth and  Sea Level (Tide and surge)

-Wave and Curent : according to enclosed shape of western harbour and out side wave breaker there are no wave in area inside harbour except small wave swell  when wind direction come from South West

-The Average depth from 5.5–16 m figure T(2).

-The surface water temperature (15 –29◦C). Although the harbour is a shallow basin subject to vigorous mixing during much of the year, the water at the bottom was colder than at the surface by 0.5–2◦C, the largest difference being reported in spring and early summer and the smallest one in autumn and winter.

3- Fetch Area

Meaning by fetch area the exposed area for wind and this is longer at external of harbour and sometime inside the harbour when wind come from South West direction to make all pollutions flow to inside harbour.    - - - There are many other parameters impacts in Western Harbour according to previous parameters as Grain size , deposits , contamination types and sources figure T(3)
